RED TACTON: HUMAN AREA NETWORKING TECHNOLOGY

Human society is entering in an era of ubiquitous computing, where networks are seamlessly interconnected and information is get access at our fingertips. Technology is making many things easier. So far we have seen LAN, MAN, WAN, INTERNET & many more but here is new concept of “ RED TACTON ” which makes the human body as a communication network by name .... HAN (Human Area Network). NTT's RedTacton is a break-through technology that, for the first time, enables reliable high-speed HAN (Human Area Network).
Red Tacton is a new Human Area networking technology that uses the surface of the human body as a safe, high speed network transmission path. Unlike other networking technologies like LAN, WAN, Bluetooth, Infrared it does not use cables or former media of networking. The connection starts when human body comes in contact with RedTacton transmitter and ends as well when physical contact ends. When using a RedTacton device, the human body effectively becomes an Ethernet cable, so the body can use its electrical field to connect devices to networks or the internet. It works by utilizing the electric field on the surface of the human body to transmit data between a RedTacton receiver and other devices.  Data can be transmitted at up to 10 mbps. According to Technology Review, the “transceiver combines an optical receiver circuit equipped with a super-sensitive photonic electrical field sensor and a crystal to transmit data.”

When compared with a Wi-Fi communication and wired communication, Red Tacton technology seems more advantageous. In Wi-Fi, there is no need of any physical connections. Thus communication is established as soon as the signals arrive but it is not 100% secure. As the signals can be easily hacked by others, extra security measures have to be included. RedTacton technology comes right in between wireless and wired connection. It can provide maximum security as well as data transfer without the use of physical connections.
